So, called “Mother-child” method is a very useful way of promoting an account without violating Instagram rules in general. This method allows driving tons of traffic (target audience) to the specific Instagram page, to boost it, increase engagement, views, and sales. The beauty of this method – the main accounts which would be promoted will not be used in any kind of automation software and it not required to provide account credentials, which makes the method safe.
In general, the method looks like: one main account – “mother” and some number of support accounts “children”, which promote the main account. The support accounts interact with the target audience, via follows, likes, DMs and other tools. Every single support account in its bio has the link to the main account or sends the message via DMs with a text, like: “follow my main account, here is the link”, in this way users start to follow main account (“mother”) and it gets a lot of traffic. The more support accounts – the better of course. But this method is not so simple as it may look like. That’s why let’s figure it more clear
Cost per acquisition (CPA), also known as cost per action, pay per acquisition (PPA) and cost per conversion (CPC), is an online advertising pricing model where the advertiser pays for a specified acquisition – for example a sale, click, or form submit (e.g., contact request, newsletter sign up, registration, etc.).
On Instagram, the CPA model was super popular a few years ago, when the social network’s filters and algorithms were not so powerful and avoid it was quite simple. Main idea aimed at – you signup at some affiliate program, such like MaxBounty for example, pick an offer you would like to promote, get a specific link where you will drive traffic (users), after the user make some required action – depends on the offer rules – you get paid – or lead according to the terms of CPA marketing. The times when it was possible to make thousands or hundred dollars with CPA on Instagram are gone, but never the less this method is still working fine with the right approach. The major problem of Instagram CPA marketing is it is needed to run a lot of accounts, the more accounts are running – the more traffic you get. The more traffic you get – the more you earn. On one hand, al is clear, but on another hand – the affiliate network provides the only one link where you have to drive the traffic. Domains the links are based on are blocked by default in the social networks, that’s why once the link would be placed in the bio of account – account would be banned – its a problem number 1. The second problem is an impossibility to put the same link to all accounts because of actions such as that is obvious spam – and once again accounts would be banned. That’s why to solve these issues and avoid Instagram algorithms, is used as a cloaking system or cloaked links. At this moment, you may ask how the CPA or cloaking system is related to the “mother-child” method? And the answer would be: “All new is well overlooked old.”
Cloaking is a search engine optimization (SEO) technique in which the content presented to the search engine spider is different from that presented to the user’s browser. This is done by delivering content based on the IP addresses or the User-Agent HTTP header of the user requesting the page. When a user is identified as a search engine spider, a server-side script delivers a different version of the web page, one that contains content not present on the visible page, or that is present but not searchable. The purpose of cloaking is sometimes to deceive search engines so they display the page when it would not otherwise be displayed (black hat SEO). However, it can also be a functional (though antiquated) technique for informing search engines of content they would not otherwise be able to locate because it is embedded in non-textual containers such as video or certain Adobe Flash components. For Instagram, this system became popular because allowed to a created a lot of cloaked links, thanks for that – the real users get the real content of the website – cloaking system redirects them to the offer’s landing or direct page and the Instagram crawlers are moved to some “white” web site. Thus were solved two problems – as every cloaked link is unique: appeared an opportunity to use affiliate’s link in bio and put the unique link in the bio of every account.
Here is how it looks like on a real example:
Take a look at the links: as you can see the links are different, unique other words. Namely http://bit.ly/2P7yNya and http://bit.ly/2PbNXCz. Hardly these links could be called as cloaked links because cloaking implies a huge number of factors the system based on identifies real users and network spiders. Anyway if to open any of those links via a desktop device – you would be redirected to Wikipedia, if via mobile device – to Instagram. This basic example shows how 2 different and unique links may lead to the same page and be the unique same time.
The fundamental principle of the cloaking system or cloaked links is the same. Rely on a list of factors – the system makes a conclusion – who clicks the link: user or spider and then according to its setting redirects to the specific web page – real content or white web site. Obviously, we can’t provide step by step guide how to create own cloaking system because every cloaking system is unique and private. Once something private goes into the public – it immediately becomes useless, unfortunately. If you do not have any vision at all how it should perform – the best way would be to find the developer and order your own setup. The second possible way less secure but nevertheless still working is a landing page.
Landing page – In online marketing, a landing page, sometimes known as a “lead capture page” or a “lander”, or a “destination page”, is a single web page that appears in response to clicking on a search engine optimized search result or an online advertisement. The landing page will usually display directed sales copy that is a logical extension of the advertisement, search result or link. Landing pages are used for lead generation. The actions that a visitor takes on a landing page is what determines an advertiser’s conversion rate – Wikipedia
To make it clear – the lending or pre-landing is made to warm up the user only before the purchase some goods or explain the user why he has to make an order or download some application or provide his data and so on. Inherently landing pages and cloaking system (cloaked links) have nothing overall, but since the creating of the landing pages imply the usage of domains and some kind of redirection – it partly could be called as a cloaking. Thus every landing page (link) could be pointed as a cloaked link. (May the Founders forgive me.)
Mother-child method and cloaked links
Finally, we are close to how is the cloaked links are related to the “mother-child” method. I would like to remember – Its essence lies in the usage of lots of support accounts which lead to one main account. To make support accounts lead to one specific main account it’s exactly needed to use unique cloaked links. Some of you may argue and say that Instagram allows mentioning the users via internal Instagram links system like @user_name and there is no need to make life so complicated and create cloaked links and actually it will be true. But take a look – to bring a lot of traffic to the main account it’s needed to run a lot of accounts. Those accounts must have the link in bio. And now let’s imagine what will happen when accounts are edited in bulk and the same internal @user_name link is put in the bio of every account: first of all to run a lot of accounts – you have to attach them to the proxies. More likely those proxies would be from one, two, rarely three specific proxy providers, what means proxies will be from particular geo and/or data center (in case of DC proxies), what in its order means all bio edit requests would be sent from specific “place”. Also when some specific account is mentioned over and over again – Instagram super easy identifies it and then depends on the support accounts (accounts which mention the main account) trust level – accounts might be banned in case of a trust level is low, or over the time issues like phone request, action blocks will appear. It’s absolutely Inevitably and logically because the “mother-child” method is a gray hat method or spam that violates the rules of Instagram. That’s why Instagram will react and take action to eliminate such accounts.
The ways of involvement traffic to the main account
Considering all info on above the next main and logical question is how to drive traffic to the main account, make it correct and avoid the problems. There are a lot of ways to interact with the users in Instagram, such as the following, liking, commenting, DMs, mentioning, stories watching and so on. Once the account makes an action on some other account – the owner of this account gets a notification and opportunity to take a look at who (what account) made those actions. At this moment all must be clear. But let’s learn more about every specific way:
Following. This method is quite simple and says for itself. All you have to do is to run as many accounts as possible to follow or to interact via the “follow tool” with the target audience according to the niche of the main “mother” account. Every support account should have a unique bio and a unique cloaked clickable link inside the bio in the link section. Once the user has been followed by the support account – he gets a “follow” notification and then the user may check the account it was made by (an account which followed him). Then in case, if the user wants to get more info about this (in our case support) account – he goes to that profile, sees the CTA bio and link which leads to the main “mother” account. And then finally follow the main account in case he wants.
Liking. Almost the same as following, the main difference is except for “the follow tool” is used a “like tool”
Stories. Similarly to the “Following” and “Liking” methods.
DMs. It also has nothing complicated inside, besides 2 important factors. Factor #1 – the must-have part of this method is a volume spintax with at least 500% replacement rate, which will allow accounts to send unique messages via DMs, because of its simply impossible to send the same text over and over again by a lof of accounts due to the obvious reason. Factor #2 – besides for the spintax for the body of the message – text, its also needed to create a spintax of cloaked links and unite both spintaxes into one big template. Thus every support “child” account will send a unique text message + unique clickable link which will lead to the main “mother” Instagram account. In additional – once per month those links must be replaced with the new one’s links.
Commenting. Quite a controversial method, because it’s based on obvious spam actions which are monitored by Instagram. In short, if a lot of accounts mention the one particular @main_account over and over again – no need to explain why its a spam and why Instagram will restrict actions and accounts such as that. We do not advise to use the comment tool either for “mother-child” method nor in general (we are talking about automated comments), because in a first case it’s impossible to avoid Instagram filters and algorithms “thanks to which ” accounts would be restricted in actions and in a second case its almost impossible to create good looking spintax for comments, which would be at least related to every published post. We don’t take into account comments such as: “Wow, nice post” or “Amazing pic” and so on. Because these types of comments are absolutely useless and clear look as comments by fake accounts.
The mix of the actions. Mix of follow, like and DMs actions may increase the volume of traffic the main account gets. Do not afraid to use all the kind of actions. Simply do not forget – every tool has its own limits and do not skip the rules above.
Sometimes when you already have successfully set and running setup of “mother-child” and want to scale it to bring more traffic or increase the speed of promotion and you add some more accounts, attach it to the proxies, run it and gets failed due to the skipped rules told above – it may look like the reason is low-quality accounts or flagged proxies. But it’s not and since now, you have to know what may trigger those issues. Our main goal, when we are using some kind of automatization and violate the Instagram rules is to stay under the radar, actually as always.
